Overview
The Investment Manager is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and managing investment opportunities across various asset classes, including equities, real estate, private equity, and venture capital. The role involves conducting due diligence, financial modeling, valuation analysis, and post-investment monitoring to maximize returns while managing risks.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Research & Analysis
Conduct market, industry, and company research to identify potential investment opportunities
Perform financial modeling, valuation, and scenario analysis
Analyze macroeconomic and sectoral trends to guide investment strategy
Prepare comprehensive investment proposals and recommendations for management approval
Deal Execution
Participate in the full investment cycle: sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, execution, and monitoring
Coordinate with legal, tax, and external advisors during deal structuring and due diligence
Prepare investment memos and presentation materials for the Investment Committee
Portfolio Management
Monitor the performance of existing investments and prepare regular performance reports
Support strategic initiatives such as restructuring, divestment, or additional funding
Evaluate portfolio risk exposure and recommend risk mitigation measures
Maintain relationships with portfolio companies and key stakeholders
Strategic Planning & Communication
Contribute to the company’s overall investment strategy and asset allocation planning
Provide insight into market developments and investment trends
Liaise with institutional partners, banks, and co-investors for joint opportunities
Present findings and results to senior management and shareholders
Reports directly to Managing Director / Head of Investment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
MBA, Master’s degree, or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred
3–5 years of professional experience in investment, M&A, asset management, or consulting
Experience in financial analysis, valuation, or deal structuring is essential
Prior experience in real estate, private equity, or venture investment is an advantage
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling (Excel, VBA)
Excellent understanding of corporate finance, valuation methods, and investment processes
Strong communication and presentation skills (English and Japanese)
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and financial databases (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, etc.)
Japanese language skills: Business level (JLPT N1 or higher)
English language skills: Professional working proficiency (TOEIC 800+ preferred)
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
Core: CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
Advanced: Certified Public Accountant (CPA Japan/US), ACCA
Additional: FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CIIA, MBA, Real Estate Appraiser, Securities Analyst Certification (証券アナリスト)
